River Spirit Flute Circle in Peoria, Illinois
Peoria is the home of the River Spirit Flute Circle (RSFC), an informal gathering of folks who enjoy playing and learning more about the Native American flute. The Native American flute has a haunting beautiful sound and may be played by people with no previous musical experience. The RCFC is part of the International Native American Flute Association's flute circles. See http://www.INAFA.org. RSFC hosts a monthly flute circle at the Universalist Unitarian Church on Richwoods Boulevard in Peoria, on the second Thursday of the month from 6 to 8 p.m. The circle is open to everyone and again experience is not necessary to attend. Flutes are available for purchase.
Randy Starns of Thunder Bear Flutes and Pam Greenslate co-facilitate the circle. Randy makes Native American flutes and will have them available for sale and for demonstration at the Sept l9 performance. See his website for more information http://tbflutes.tripod.com. Pam is a Native American flute instructor and may be found on INAFA's website listing of flute instructors, as well as at her website, http://www.casaservices.com.
